70s FLAIR

Funny, as much as I talk about how much I love wearing something new, if I had to be really honest, I'd say that in many ways, wearing my tried and true favorites is what I love the most. In fact, most of the prized pieces I have in my closet, the ones I really enjoy putting on every time without exception have been with me for years. Like old friends you can always rely on, I can count on them to make an outfit and make me feel great while I wear them every time.

Well, today's outfit just happens to feature some of these pieces. I picked up this suede trench coat just before Paris Fashion Week, and haven't stopped wearing it since. Aside from the fact that I love trench coats in general, this particular one is basically a perfect combination of all the elements one could look for in a trench coat. Not afraid of using the word "perfect" too much when referring to this particular piece, everything about it is just, well... perfect from material and color to length and fit. I've worn it a million times, in a million ways, and I've yet to find something it doesn't work with, and of course you know how important versatility is to me.

The same logic applies to this Chloe bag. I honestly marvel at it's ability to make and complete outfits! Like magic, it has the most astonishing power to transform the most simplest of looks into polished outfits and add a perfect ( there I go using the word "perfect" again, but I struggle to describe it in any other way ) touch of drama! Basically there isn't a slouchy jean, plain t-shirt combo in the world this bag couldn't elevate to a guaranteed fabulousness of the highest degree:) And of course being a big fan of both, slouchy jeans and simple t-shirts, I truly appreciate this little super power!

What about you guys? Which do you prefer, new or tried and tested favorites?

PATCHWORK IN PARIS

Of all the outwear trends coming in for fall 2015, capes are definitely my favorite! Cozy and comfortable, yet oh-so-very chic and pulled together! This particular patchwork one from Chloe I wore during Paris Fashion Week is my current obsession! Love the statement-making retro color combination and the asymmetric hem which tends to drape in the most beautiful of ways! But as is with most pieces I tend to obsess about, what I adore about it the most is versatility! Obviously a bit partial to the way it pairs with floor-length flare jeans, I find that it looks equally stunning worn with a black turtleneck, skinny jeans and ankle boots or over-the-knee boots. In any case, the possibilities of wearing it are essentially endless and of course knowing me, you know how much I love that!

SUMMER STRIPES

One thing is certain, LA temperatures have officially become unbearable! HOT and HUMID, it feels like you you're in a sauna every time you step outside! Though I feel kind of silly complaining about the warmth and the sunshine because I am usually such a summer girl, nevertheless, lately I find myself longing for fall and somewhat more habitable temperatures:) You know, sometimes a girl just wants to enjoy her day without make-up melting off her face and frizzy hair...

As tempting as it is to hide from the heat indoors, daring to venture outside only in the evening, Emil and I are not really indoors kinda people. So, we've been trying to avoid the heat by spending the majority of our time in Malibu, which tends to be a bit cooler.

Funny, after hanging out in Malibu for years, we thought we knew all the cute hangout spots but I guess we were wrong:) Our latest discovery and obsession - The Malibu Cafe. Love the rustic decor, outside pool tables and paddle boat rides. Also, if you happen to find yourself there at dinner time, definitely try the Board, the olive bread is absolutely amazing!:)

70s FLARE

Of all the SS15 trends, I think 70s-inspired looks are my favorite by far! I am literally obsessed with everything about this trend from high-waisted flare jeans and platforms, to round oversized aviators and suede fringe:)

My favorite way of wearing this trend is to take key 70s-inspired pieces and add a few modern touches and tweaks. Take today's look for example, to make this outfit a bit more modern, I paired my EXPRESS  flare jeans with a cute tie front blouse. Yet instead of going for 70s-inspired accessories, I kept this look clean and polished by adding a black leather bag and strappy heels. Of course, I couldn't resist adding a pair of oversized round sunglasses to the mix, but I honestly feel they enhance this look since the rest of my accessories are so clean and simple.

What about you guys? How do you feel about the 70s inspired trend? How do you wear it?

THE 70s FLARE

I love skinny jeans! I love them a lot in fact, but after wearing skinnies pretty much non stop for the past few years, I am ready to add something different to my denim repertoire.

Why flares, you ask? Why not straight leg or boyfriend, for example? Well, mainly because I think flare is probably one of the most flattering jean-shapes there is, provided of course they fit properly. Like any other girl who is 5.8 and has a penchant for sky-high heels, when I talk about the proper fit, it's all about the length!

I have a few pet peeves when it comes to clothing, but all of them pale in comparison to my hatred of short jeans and pants. When flares are long enough ( go all the way to the ground and cover your footwear completely), you look like you're 20 feet tall and the have the longest pair of legs in the universe, but when they're too short, well, let's just say the results aren't pretty :)

So, after trying a million different pairs on, here is what I found :

Most jeans come in 32 or 34 length. I tried 34 on, and though they look alright at first ( not all the way to the floor but pretty darn close ), they tend to ride up as you walk and eventually end up looking way too short.

35 length was definitely good but 36 was even better:) Unfortunately, I found only a few denim labels that make jeans this long. If I had to choose two favorites, I would go with Stella McCartney and FRAME Denim, the later being my particular obsession at the moment due to a few amazing styles and washes!

What about you guys, how do you feel about the flare?
