LACE UP LOVE

I've been practically living in this lace-up corduroy dress! So comfy and easy, it's became my unofficial off-duty uniform as of lately:) Love absolutely everything about it, from the casual silhouette, to lace up detailing and side pockets! You know me, those happen to be my particular weakness! So good with flats, also love the way it pairs with slouchy flat or over-the-knee boots! For today's look, I went with all black accessories and added just a few gold touches. But if you happen to love color, which I usually do when I'm not going through one of my all-black moments:), it pairs just as well with jewel tones, especially burgundy and emerald! Though to be completely honest with you, I am yet to find something this dress doesn't look good with, and in my book, that is always a good thing!

SUMMER STRIPES

One thing is certain, LA temperatures have officially become unbearable! HOT and HUMID, it feels like you you're in a sauna every time you step outside! Though I feel kind of silly complaining about the warmth and the sunshine because I am usually such a summer girl, nevertheless, lately I find myself longing for fall and somewhat more habitable temperatures:) You know, sometimes a girl just wants to enjoy her day without make-up melting off her face and frizzy hair... 

As tempting as it is to hide from the heat indoors, daring to venture outside only in the evening, Emil and I are not really indoors kinda people. So, we've been trying to avoid the heat by spending the majority of our time in Malibu, which tends to be a bit cooler. 

Funny, after hanging out in Malibu for years, we thought we knew all the cute hangout spots but I guess we were wrong:) Our latest discovery and obsession - The Malibu Cafe. Love the rustic decor, outside pool tables and paddle boat rides. Also, if you happen to find yourself there at dinner time, definitely try the Board, the olive bread is absolutely amazing!:)

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!

Happy 4th of July Everyone! Spending the day with my family in Malibu picnicking on the beach and meeting up with a few friends later to watch the fireworks! So excited!:) How about you guys, what are your plans for today?

BEACH BOUND

Ah, it's been so hot in LA lately, it literally feels like you're melting every time you step outside. After spending a few days running from one air-conditined area to the next, we decided enough is enough and run off to Malibu for the rest of this week to enjoy a much more habitable weather! Malibu tends to run a few degrees cooler that the rest of the city, so it's been absolutely amazing to be able to venture outside without feeling like you stepped into a sauna:) 

It took us exactly half a day to become complete and total beach bums! I am pretty sure I haven't left the house wearing anything other than a bikini and a cover up since we got here! The cute Tiare Hawaii cover up & fringed perfection of a bikini I am wearing in today's post are my particular favorites! You know me, I love soft colors, and these water-colored pieces are so pretty and have such a relaxed and easy vibe! My poor feet are getting some well-deserved rest as well! I spend the past fews days walking around bare feet or wearing these comfy studded flat sandals! Guess I should give my heels a break a bit more often, cause this is heaven!:)

MEET ME IN MALIBU

Hiking in Malibu, or as I like to call it, the place where it all started. It's kind of hard to imagine that it's been more than four years since Emil and I shot our very first post for VivaLuxury in this exact spot! Feeling a bit nostalgic, really... A lot has changed, but a lot has remained the same, most importantly I still enjoy our shoots with Emil as much as I did the day it all began:) It's kind of funny but starting VivaLuxury really opened my eyes and helped me to discover a whole new side of me. Switching to Fashion from Computer Science background at first seems like a 180 degree turn, but eventually I realized those two are not mutually exclusive and I am simply a computer science geek with a passion for fashion!

What has changed in the past four years is my appreciation for appropriate hiking footwear. Can't imagine why, but I went with a pair of platform, sky-high heeled boots on our first shoot! Let me tell you, comfortable it was not! So, keeping comfort in mind, this time I opted for a breezy, light-as-air cotton tunic I recently scored at Karen Kane, denim cut-offs and flat sandals! You live, you learn, I guess! Hooray to personal growth!:)

Perfect day, perfect place, perfect dress.... I think if I could spend the rest of my life on the beach, I would. Nothing I love more than the sound of the waves and sand between my toes... Oh, and watching surfers ride the waves! Always wanted to learn, but haven't yet, oh well, perhaps some day...


Since Emil and I had dinner plans, I took a break from my usual beach uniform - shorts, flip-flops, a spaghetti-strapped top and a pair of oversized sunnies. California sun is not joke:) Instead I opted for this flowy chiffon dress and a pair of metallic flats. Dressing up a bit is appropriate, um... always!
